In June, NASA's Curiosity Rover was doing it's thing, snappin' images on the surface of Mars. Among the thousands of photos gathered, one in particular caught the eye of viewers.
The NASA image captured what some are calling a woman cloaked, facing the Curiosity Rover, potentially watching it's every movement.
Scott Waring of UFO Sightings Daily makes argues why he thinks the figure is indeed a mystery woman. "The woman seems to have breasts...indicated by the shadow on its chest. We also see two arms that are lighter in color and what looks like a head with long hair."
Waring doesn't claim that the mysterious figure is living or a statue but does say the figure is quite small, coming in at 8-10 cm tall. UFOvniDisclosure has enlarged the photos and made a few different views that can be seen here.
TIME's science writer Jeffrey Kluger believes we are seeing a mysterious woman becuase of pareidolia, which he explains below.
The pareidolia phenomenon is actually a deeply rooted one, something that helps infants focus on faces early and also allowed humans in the wild to spot danger easily—picking a potentially menacing human or animal peering out from a backdrop of leaves or scrub. Yes, more often than not it’s a false alarm, but better to overreact fifty times than under-react even once.
I don't know about you, but looking at the original photo from NASA and others from people like Waring and UFOvniDisclouse, brings up a number of possibilites of what the figure could be. What do you think?
