Mars Is Lonely at the Top

  • Matthew Joaquin

A couple days ago, our most adventurous Mars pal/rover Opportunity turned 12. It was supposedly slated to last around 90 days when it landed in 2004, so factoring that in would probably make it around a bazillion years old in robot age. I like to imagine it either with a beard, rolling about with a walking stick and complaining about how it was supposed to be out of that hellhole years ago. And how it was originally convinced that “the move would be cutting edge and seeing the newest sights would be the best of career choices.”
